My conservative Catholic upbringing has left me completely uneducated about the female body and even my own body to a degree, so thanks for giving me some much-needed perspective on this. Hopefully you and a lot of women get the support you need, having a period sounds even more awful than I could imagine even if it is completely normal and healthy. At the very least, it would make me a lot more understanding if I ever get a girlfriend. Knowledge is power!

Yea, spot on post, erm, so to speak. What galls me is the lack of education about human biology in school, so many proven facts that can save lives and minds. We're beyond old puritanical boundaries, so it's gotta be something else... I mean, I do appreciate parents raising kids and not 'the State', but knowledge is power that enables individuality.
